GIFTS camp is an exploratory camp that encourages campers to experience new interests and explore new skills. Campers return to the same “focus” class each morning and rotate through eight other classes throughout the week. This gives them the opportunity to Grow their God given Interests, Fellowship, Talents and Skills. Children entering 1st grade through 7th grade can attend GIFTS Camp.

 

Missions: Please note all campers will rotate through this area learning about the camp service project. Campers do not need to choose this as a rotation. It will be built into their schedule.

Below is a list of confirmed classes:

Amazing Race: (Focus grades 4-7; Rotations all ages) Amazing Race will help students showcase their perseverance by completing tasks no matter how hard they may be.  This class will teach students about inclusion by learning about the world we live in and the exploration about the cultures, animals, foods, and people of the world.  In addition, they will get the opportunity to participate in amazing races that will be full of twists and turns and jammed packed full of fun!

Art 1-3: Do you like to draw, paint, and create? Campers will have fun with new friends as they create unique works of art.  Each day will be a new project.

Art 4-7: Unleash your imagination this summer! Art camp provides opportunities for several forms of visual art.  Each day brings a new project that may include drawing, painting, or sculpture. Rotation: Come join us and create a one-of-a-kind piece of art!

Artists Trading Cards: (Focus and Rotation 4-7th grade) Unleash your imagination this summer! Art camp provides opportunities for several forms of visual art.  Each day brings a new project that may include drawing, painting, or sculpture. Rotation: Come join us and create a one-of-a-kind piece of art!

Card Games and Tricks: (Focus4th- 7th grade, Rotations all ages) Calling all card players and magicians! Come play cards with us and learn all kinds of fun games like Slap Jack, Spoons, Crazy Eights, Speed, and Snap! Amaze your friends with cool magic tricks that you can perform with nothing more than a standard deck of cards.

Classic Games: (Focus & Rotations all ages) Without handheld devices and highly sophisticated gaming systems, what did your parents and grandparents do as kids during the hot summer months? Join us for some classic games that have stood the test of time and continued to entertain even the most tech savvy kids.

Cooking 1-3: We teach a hand-on cooking class for the younger children. Come mix it up with cooking. Young chefs will have a blast preparing basic cooking concoctions and tasting the results of their work. Class members will work together to prepare recipes. They will take home recipes and be encouraged to try them with their families. Many of the focus activities will be the same as last year but rotation recipes are new. PLEASE NOTE: THIS CLASS IS NOT GLUTEN FREE.

Cooking 4-7: Chefs will enjoy a fun, hands-on experience preparing popular kid-friendly food. All recipes are kid-tested and agreed to be 100% yummy! We will discuss kitchen safety and the importance of good nutrition for health.  Focus class chefs will receive a class cookbook that will include the recipes we prepare in class.  Focus class chefs should bring an apron and a ponytail holder to class.  ALLERGY NOTE: THIS IS NOT A GLUTEN FREE CLASS.  Different recipes will include meat, poultry, dairy, eggs and fruit (including strawberries). No recipe will include nuts; however, some ingredients may have been processed in a factory that processes nuts.

Dance Your Heart Out: (Focus 1st-3rd grade, rotations all ages) This fun class encompasses lots of movement and exercise. We will stretch at the beginning of class, learn moves across the floor, and learn a dance that will be taught and cleaned throughout the entire week.  During breaks and at the end of class we will play dance games.

Dangerous Boys: (Focus 4th-7th, rotationas all ages) Calling all boys!! Are you looking for outdoor fun and adventure? Do you like nerf battles? How about a life size angry birds shooting course? Come explore challenges you’ve never faced before and teamwork with some of the coolest dudes around. If interested, the dangerous class for boys is for you!!

Daring Class For Girls: (Focus 4th-7th, rotationas all ages) Join us for an extraordinary week of not-so-ordinary girl activities. From exploding science experiments to gnarly skateboarding. Are you daring enough to join us?

Disney Adventure: (Focus 1st-3rd grade, rotations all ages) Come and enjoy a Disney Adventure with many of your favorite beloved characters. This class involves fun crafts for both boys and girls as well as snacks and special guests.

Fabric Fun: (Focus grades 4-7; Rotations all ages) Come and learn about no-sew fabric projects! Campers will learn how to create fleece blankets and pillows, wire hanger wreaths, bulletin boards, and pencil holders.

Fun with Frosting: Focus group limited to entering 4th7th grade and limited to campers who have never taken this class as a Focus Group. Rotation Groups open to all ages. Does learning how to decorate cakes and cupcakes with various icing techniques sound like a sweet idea to you? All campers will learn to decorate and ice using icing tips. The rotation group will learn to decorate cupcakes. They will learn figure modeling using fondant! The focus group will also learn how to decorate a cake. We will learn how to pipe flowers, ruffles and other fun ways to make their cake special. Focus group campers should bring an apron and a ponytail holder to class. PLEASE NOTE: THIS CLASS IS NOT GLUTEN FREE.

Happy Planner: (Focus 4th-7th, Rotations all ages) Combine your love for creativity with your need for organization! Everyone in the focus class will receive their very own planner & will customize them by making & decorating planner pages & accessories to help stay organized. The rotation classes will partake in a customizable & useful project that will showcase their individual personalities.

Hogwarts Academy: (Focus & Rotations all ages) Join us on Platform 9 3/4 as we take off for a whirlwind of wizarding wonders. Select a wand, be sorted into a house, and attend important wizarding classes such as herb-ology, care of magical creatures, and potions. Once classes are over, engage in an exciting game of Quidditch and visit Honeydukes for a treat! A world of wonder awaits the "Chosen Ones"!

J.A.M. Club: (rotation only for all ages)Come J.A.M. with us!! All campers who come to J.A.M. Club will experience instant success in music. They will have fun with music instruments and improvisational music games!! They will learn how to play a variety of music instruments such as Orff, boom wackers, rhythm instruments, drums, hand bells and chimes. Campers will have fun working together as a group to create their own song!! Each group’s song will be video recorded.

Lego Imagination Workshop: (Focus & Rotations all ages) If you like to build things and use your imagination, you will love this class. Participants will have access to 230 pounds of Legos and can build, build, build. This class includes both unstructured time and daily challenges. Come see what you can create!

Magic of Story Telling: (Focus only 4th-7th) Clayton Poland is a talented evangelist, speaker and entertainer who travels nationally and internationally bringing the Bible to life for this generation. Clayton  will help campers learn how to tell stories that will captivate your friends. He will show you how to use props, facial expressions and yes even simple magic tricks to help deliver a message that amazes everyone!

Missions:  All campers will rotate here. We are Zoe is an organization that empowers orphans and vulnerable children to move beyond charity and become fully self-reliant in three years. Our campers will learn more about this organization. They will also be given the opportunity to donate money and vote on the project that we will support with money collected during the week of camp.

Paper Crafting: (Focus and rotations grades 4th-7th) In paper crafting, we'll be learning modular and regular origami, making pop-up cards, making books from single sheets of paper, and paper mache, all with an emphasis on STEM concepts.  The class will be open-ended--kids can make what they want so it will be fun for both boys and girls.  Rotation classes will be doing modular origami.

Science 1-3: Campers will explore God’s World and God’s Word through real world science experiments. This class is designed to stir the imaginations of young scientists and develop a lasting love for Christ and the natural world He created

Science: 4-7: Are you MAD about science?  Don’t worry, there’s a MAD scientist in us all!! Be prepared to get a little messy, and learn cool things to share with your family & friends while having fun!!  NEW experiments for Focus and Rotation groups!!

Sculpture: (Focus & Rotations open to grades 1-3) Options for sculpture are as endless as the camper’s imagination. Proposed projects and instruction will include the creation of animals, pinch pots, trinket boxes, play food, etc. Campers will also be invited and encouraged to create to their hearts’ content. 

Sewing: (Focus & Rotations grades 4-7) Are you ready to sew? Join us as we navigate our way through making the ultimate sleepover package! The focus group will make pajama pants, a pillow case, a sleep mask and maybe even a matching T‐shirt. We will learn how to cut out a pattern, place the pattern on material, cut it out, and seam up our creations. You will need to purchase your own fabric prior to camp. Feel free to bring your own machine so you can continue to learn at home. Rotation participants will have fun getting warmed up with the machines as we learn how to make something fun too!

Spy Training 101: (Focus & Rotations grades 4-7) Spy Training 101 Camp is looking for new recruits for a week long mission. We will learn different techniques to help our spy students become spy experts. Spy training will involve using our 5 senses as well as learn how to slouthe around. We will also have to work as a group to conquer missions that we are sent on from our spy school. Do you have what it takes to become a master spy?

Spy Camp Jr: (Focus & Rotations grades 1-3) Learn the art of spy craft with codes, disguises, surveillance and evasion. Make your way through a laser maze, write in disappearing ink and create codes to thwart your enemies (or siblings!)

STEAM: This class will be filled with art and science hands on activities that incorporate both creativity and problem solving.

Team Sports: Focus 4th-7th, rotations all ages) A team sport is an activity in which a group of individuals, on the same team, work together to accomplish an ultimate goal. In Team Sports we will be learning the rules and skills of several different team sports throughout the week.

Theatre: Campers will explore all aspects of theatre including improve, makeup, stage design, technical theatre, theatre games, and acting. 

Woodworking: (Focus & Rotations grades 4-7 ) Campers will participate, with adult supervision, in many "hands-on" tasks such as drilling, cutting, sanding, driving nails, and joining with screws as they construct a new project that is kid‐friendly and creative. Focus campers should bring their own labeled tape measure and safety glasses. Rotation groups will learn to cut, drill, and hammer as they also assemble a new project. Rotation campers will not need to bring any supplies.
