Welcome to First United Methodist Church Pearland
Our pastors, staff, and congregation are happy to welcome you. Our vision is to be a community where everyone is connected to a greater life in Christ. This means that although we are not perfect, everyone here is seeking to live their day-to-day life in relationship with Jesus Christ, through the ups and downs, the good times and the bad. It means that we are a large church family of small groups who are committed to worshipping, growing and serving together. And finally, it means that each of us is reaching out in our community and in our world to help connect others to a greater life in Christ.
We want you to feel right at home when you walk into one of our services. Here are some answers to frequently asked questions to help make your visit a pleasant experience.
We have many different worship services.
What should I wear?
At FUMC Pearland, we focus on the heart more than on the outward appearance. When you come to one of our services, you will find people dressed in a wide variety of styles from as casual as jeans or shorts to a smaller number dressed more formally. Most people find themselves somewhere in the middle. Just be sure to dress so that you will be relaxed and able to get the greatest possible impact from our service.
Do you have communion?
We practice open communion. You do not need to be a member of FUMC Pearland to participate. Communion is served on the first Sunday of the month in our Tradtional services and every Sunday in our Celebration service. Gluten free elements are available. Communion is also served after the 8:30 am Traditional service in the Sanctuary.
Where do my kids go during worship?
Children may stay in worship with you if you wish. We encourage families to worship together. During the 10:45 am services, (except the first Sunday of the month) we have a time especially designed for the children ages K-4th grade called PKC (PearlandKids Church)! Children are escorted out into a separate space where they have time for fellowship and lessons. Children are picked up in B106 by parents after the worship services.
We do have child care for ages birth through preschool during each service. At 9:30 am we have Sunday School for children grades K-12th.
Am I welcome to try adult Sunday School classes? Do I just show up?
Yes! You are welcome to try any and all of our Sunday School Classes! Our classes meet from 9:30 – 10:30 am. Descriptions of the classes and their locations are available on the Sunday School page.
Have questions? Need information? The Welcome Center is located just outside the doors in the Sanctuary and in the Lobby of the Family Life Center and is a great resource for our members and guests alike. Staffed by a friendly and knowledgeable church member, this is the place to find brochures and information about church ministries, programs and activities.
