MINISTRY COUNCIL UPDATE
If you haven’t already heard, 2019 is going to be quite an exciting year for our church. At the Ministry Council meeting on January 27, the leadership from both campuses heard presentation about the awesome ministry happening in Pearland and in Manvel.
We are thrilled that our Methodist Children’s Program will add an extension at our Redeemer Campus this fall. MCP Director Michelle Ehrlich is clearly excited, stating, “We get to reach more families for Christ and that is what it is all about.” Under the leadership of Michelle and new MCP Redeemer Director Barb Albritton, MCP Pearland and MCP Redeemer will work together as a team to continue to provide the best faith-based learning experience for children.
Barbara Fyffe shared that we have a team of Stephen Ministers available and ready to begin working with those in our community needing care and support through crisis. Members of this team have attended trainings and meetings for the past five months to prepare for this ministry. This team includes members from Pearland and Redeemer.
As we have now moved into being a multi-site campus for a little over two years now, we have consulted with the Unstuck Group to assess our structure and ministry as they help us become more effective in our goal to make more disciples. Focusing on how to help churches understand where they are and where they can be, the Unstuck Group will guide us through a process to become stronger, more intentional leaders and ministers in our community. Pastor David Goran will lead this charge with the confidence that “if we are willing to do the work, the Unstuck Group will help us reach out and effectively focus on making disciples.”
A Called Charge Conference was held after the Ministry Council meeting. By unanimous vote from the Council, Reggie Clemons will move forward with the process to become a licensed local pastor. As a local pastor, Reggie will have the same responsibilities as clergy, but only at FUMC Pearland and Redeemer. He is not a candidate to be moved to another church, as ordained clergy can be.
Ministry Council meetings are open to anyone. The next meeting will be held Monday, April 22, at 6:30 pm in the Assembly Room.
