Vacation Bible School 2024

Vacation Bible School (VBS) takes place June 24-28. Our theme this year is, “I Wonder…”. Children will explore what makes them wonder, sparks their curiosity, makes them want to explore, discover, and experiment. How can we harness their curiosity to help them wonder about the God who made them? We’re going to engage kids’ imaginations! Kids will not only get curious about science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, but they’ll also get curious about the God who created it all! They’ll hear from early church leaders like Paul, Peter, John, and Timothy, who helped the first Jesus-followers wonder what made their stories unique, what gifts God gave them (and how they could use those gifts to serve), what they could learn from others, and how they could spend time with God.

Join us for a fun week of crafts, games, snacks and Bible lessons daily! Registration is OPEN at the links below!

Age range is from 3 years old to child entering 4th grade as of Aug 2023.

Wednesday Morning Bible Study

Join us for the Wednesday Morning Bible Study. A new four week session will begin on April 10. We will be using the book On Purpose: Finding God's Voice in Your Passion. We are hungry for a sense of purpose, direction, and calling in our lives. That's as basic an ingredient to the human experience as they come. We want to be part of something bigger than ourselves. We want to participate in something that has eternal merit and lasting impact. We do not want to live a shallow, hollow existence. We yearn for deeper meaning, for deeper purpose within our lives. We want to be more than we are.

This study will take place for four weeks, from 10:00 am - 11:30 am, and will meet in Bethel Building Room 106. Register online at the link below, or contact the Church Office. There will be a link in your confirmation email that will take you to the book you need to buy. The book may be purchased at Amazon, Cokesbury or Christianbooks.com. PearlandKIDS Sunday School

PearlandKIDS is excited to try something NEW in April: Deep Blue Rotation Stations, Come To Breakfast!

Our Bible story describes a post-resurrection appearance of Jesus. Before Jesus' death and resurrection, he performed miracles and shared meals with his followers. Each week, we will look at the same story from the book of John (John 21:1-14). In this scripture passage, the disciples are offered gifts of an abundant catch of fish and a nourishing meal. This story demonstrates that Jesus' ministry of love, grace and hospitality will continue post-resurrection.

Join us each week as we experience the Bible story in a new way! Our kids will rotate throughout different stations such as art, cooking, games, missions, storytelling and more!

For information about this and other PearlandKIDS activities, contact Shannon Garza, Director of PearlandKIDS (shannon@fumcpearland.org).

to Mar 31

Holy Week at FUMC Pearland

We conclude this Lenten Season with Holy Week, a week where we stop and reflect on all we have learned, experienced, and contemplated during Lent. Holy Week begins Sunday, March 24 with Palm Sunday, a special day of Celebration for Christians, and more importantly, a day that as religious celebrations are considered, the only one that is celebrated exclusively by Christians. On this day, we will have special Palm Sunday presentations in our morning services, and culminate with an all church lunch that will take place immediately after the 10:45 services right across the street in Zychlinski Park (lunch will be prepared by our Men in Action!). After lunch, PearlandKIDS will present our Annual Easter Egg Hunt for our kids to enjoy!

On Thursday March 28, we invite everyone to attend a special Maundy Thursday service at 6:30 pm in the Sanctuary. There will be special music, readings, and communion as we hear reflections that will lead us to the Last Supper. And on Friday, March 29, we will observe Good Friday with a special service in the Family Life Center at 6:30 pm, focused on the events of that day from some of the participants.

On Easter Sunday, March 31, we celebrate the Resurrection with the beginning of a new Sermon Series, “Gospel Shared”, a series which not only acknowledges that we are witnesses to the power of the Gospel, but we are compelled to share this Gospel and allow the message of the Resurrection to move us out of our comfort zones and into a new life.

Holy Week will be faithful observance of all that we have experienced on our journey, and a revelation of our breakthrough! We invite you to make plans to experience it all, and to invite others to experience it alongside you!

On the Flip Side
Mar

On the Flip Side

On the FLIP Side is a four week study from the Prophets and Gospels on Justice. When Jesus was on earth, He wasn’t exactly known for telling people what they wanted to hear. Jesus’ message was unlike any message people had ever heard before. He didn’t give shallow motivational speeches or feel-good sermons. He didn’t recycle the same messages other religious leaders were teaching. He flipped people’s ideas about God, the world, and themselves completely upside down — usually in uncomfortable ways. And that’s always how God’s words have worked! In this four-week series, we’ll compare Jesus’ words in the Gospels with the words of the Old Testament prophets to see how God’s words have always challenged our understanding of what’s wrong or right, good or bad, and just or unjust. We’ll talk about how, both then and now, God flips our assumptions about who God values, our definition of righteousness, our understanding of what’s good enough, and our definition of justice.

Join us this week in the Student Ministry Building as we continue the series “On the FLIP Side.” All 5th-12th graders are invited to join us at 9:30 am on Sunday mornings in the Student Ministry Building.

PSM Focus Study

It’s not easy to stay focused. Especially these days, when we’re connected to a never-ending stream of new notifications, ads, messages, videos, posts, and entertainment, it makes sense if we feel a little distracted sometimes. Maybe you’ve struggled recently to stay focused on your homework, or on the story, your friend was telling you, or on the movie you were watching — but have you ever struggled to stay focused when you were spending time with God? In this four-week series, we’re going to get honest about how difficult it can be to stay focused when we’re trying to pray, read the Bible, or grow in our faith.

Beginning Mach 3, Pearland Student Ministries will present a new study, FOCUS. Each week, we’ll explore passages from Psalms and the Gospels as we challenge ourselves to focus on practicing four spiritual disciplines that can help us grow. Together, we’ll try focusing on what God has said, on giving something up, on talking to God, and on rest. We invite you to join us on Sunday mornings for this incredible opportunity to grow spiritually. We also invite you to invite others!

All 5th-12th graders are invited to join us at 9:30 am on Sunday mornings in the Student Ministry Building.

Lenten Sermon Series

Lenten Sermon Series

We look forward to Ash Wednesday, which this year is on February 14. Ash Wednesday is important because it marks the start of the Lenten period leading up to Easter Sunday. On Ash Wednesday, we will also begin our Lenten Sermon Series, which will be based on the book by Adam Hamilton, The Way: Walking in the Footsteps of Jesus. The sermons and study guides for this series will “put you on the ground,” seeing and experiencing the things Jesus saw as He traveled the length and breadth of Galilee and Judea. But this series is more than that. It is a call to discipleship. It is a journey with Christ who still walks with us and invites us to follow His footsteps. Our desire in this series is to be challenged to a greater commitment to discipleship, where we acknowledge Jesus as our Lord and Savior, gaining a deeper understanding of His life, and deepening our faith in Him and our love for Him.

Our Ash Wednesday service will take place on February 14, at 6:30 pm, in the Sanctuary.
